It’s only a few short weeks until Halloween 2019 which means it’s time to get prepared for the spooky festivities. Most people love Halloween, and that means there are a few keys things to get sorted. So, we’ve pulled together our guide to preparing for Halloween 2019.
One of the most important things at Halloween is the costumes. What is everyone going to be wearing? Who will be the best dressed, or look the scariest? Well, Google has released it’s annual ‘Frightgeist’ – where it rounds up of the year’s top Google searches for Halloween costumes.
It’s no surprise that this year IT and Spiderman were a month the most searched for costumes with new installments of both franchises being big box office hits this year. Stranger Things, Toy Story and Minecraft all being bit hit in the group costume category.
If you’re in the market for a more scary or creepy costume this year, Momo, Anabelle, Slenderman and The Nun are all big contenders. Or, if you’re particularly handy with makeup, you could freestyle it and go for a classic gore wound, burns or zombie look.
Just remember if you’re going to be dressing as anything particularly scary, be mindful of younger children as you may give them a nasty fright!
If you’re anticipating trick-or-treaters this year or planning to have people over, then you’re going to want your home to look the part. Depending on how much you want to do, there are different decorations you can use to suit each budget and aesthetic.
If you’re going for more budget-friendly and minimalist decorations this year, then there are a lot of ways you can make your own decorations that still look great and minimalist, but won’t break the bank. If you want to go a little upscale, there are plenty of stores, such as Home Bargains, B&M and The Range as well as supermarkets like Tesco and Morrisons who are selling more elaborate decorations.
Be aware though; you’ll want to make sure you are taking extra precautions at Halloween as it is prime time for accidents and thefts. Whether it’s having trick or treaters admire your decorating skills, or having friends over, it’s important to keep safety in mind as you don’t want your home damaged, or atone to hurt themselves. Make sure you are taking steps to Halloween-proof your home from everything from rogue jack-o-lantern flames to dark spots where tricksters and thieves can hide. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
